Director of London-based Literary Agency visits the University

Released: 06.06.13

Isobel Dixon, Director of the London-based Literary Agency, Blake Friedmann, took time away from her hectic international schedule recently to be with Creative Writing students at the University of St Mark and St John.

The multi-talented Isobel, who is also a highly regarded poet, ran an afternoon poetry workshop with students before making an evening presentation as part of the Visiting Writer series at Marjon which is open to members of the public as well as University students and staff.

Isobel’s presentation, Of Books, Maps and Literary Storms, included a few of her evocative poems, followed by a lively debate about the role of the literary agent, the changing nature of publishing, and ways of starting a career in the book trade.

Hayden Gabriel, Programme Leader for Creative Writing commented: "It was lovely to discover that the first ever writer Isobel represented was Marjon Alumnus and Honorary Graduate, Billy Hopkins."
