On Wednesday 30th October the University of St Mark and St John played host to a variety of professionals from the local Weightlifting and Strength and Conditioning world. Attendees were hosted in the Sport and Health Science Laboratory for a weightlifting seminar.
Guest speakers included Zoe “Pablo” Smith (Olympic and Commonwealth Weightlifter and KBT Education Coach Educator) and Sam Dovey (Managing Director of KBT Education). The University have a great relationship with KBT Education, a national vocational education provider who deliver Strength and Conditioning and Nutrition Courses on campus. Attendees included The Exeter Chiefs Strength and Conditioning team, coaches from CrossFit Plymouth as well as physical training instructors from the local military, personal trainers and a number of university students.
Dawn Tighe, Sport and Health Science Officer at the University said: “We worked closely with the KBT Education Team to arrange the seminar and it was a great success. Everyone who attended benefitted greatly from hearing Zoe talk about her experience as a Team GB weightlifter and gained a lot from the extensive knowledge of the KBT Education Team.”
The audience were treated to a presentation about KBT Education, an interview with Zoe “Pablo” Smith and the opportunity to ask the Team GB Weightlifter questions about herself and her weightlifting career.
Zoe commented on the night: “The evening was really enjoyable and beneficial for everyone involved. I liked having the chance to speak to a great bunch of people who asked some really interesting questions.”
