Launch of Reading challenge to celebrate World Book Day

To celebrate World Book Day on the 7th March, the Chaplaincy at the University of St Mark & St John will be holding a special storytelling event and reading challenge.

This year’s World Book Day highlights the joys of storytelling and it promises to be a memorable event for all!

Renowned Storyteller David Heathfield will be joined on stage by Marjon Creative Writing Lecturer and Author, Abimbola Alao.  They will share stories from around the world as well as launch the Community Read-a-Thon: A community challenge that aims to get people to finish the reading of the New Testament in 10 weeks.

The event is FREE and suitable for people of all ages.

Other activities on the day include:

  • Performance Poetry
  • Audience Storytelling – this is for those who wish to share tales or poems

David and Abimbola will also be visiting schools in Totnes, Plymouth and Princetown on the 6th and 7th of March.
