This October saw the first graduation ceremonies since the University of St Mark & St John in Plymouth was granted full university status in May.
The Vice- Chancellor, Professor Cara Aitchison said: ”The graduation ceremonies have been absolutely brilliant. The students, friends and families have had a great time. It has been wonderful to see the class of 2013, which of course are the first graduates of the University of St Mark & St John. We have had some outstanding honorary graduates and today we have made an award to Jon Rudd an Olympic and National swimming coach and a former student of the University. He has achieved so much for Plymouth and Great Britain and another honorary award was given to Professor Andrew Pollard, an internationally renowned authority in Education, Teaching and Learning.”
Jon commented on receiving the award: “To receive an honorary degree from the University of St Mark and St John is a huge honour for me. Marjon is the reason I moved to Plymouth in 1988 and I spent four of the best years of my life there, so to receive this today from an establishment that I love and feel extremely proud to be part of is very special indeed."
