This week in Manchester, the University of St Mark & St John’s student union president won the award for NUS Student Union Officer of the Year.
Zak Liddell was nominated by Marjon’s Student Support department and Dr Juliet Williams CBE, Chair of Governors.
He was shortlisted along with candidates from Birmingham City University, University of Portsmouth and Leeds Met.
The NUS announced that Zak had won “as he had worked both strategically and operationally and has had impact on the students at the University, the local community and the wider movement.”
Zak commented: ”It is an honour to just be nominated. I genuinely wasn’t expecting to win. It’s a real achievement coming from a small university. This isn’t just a reflection on the work that I have done but also on the work of the MSU team and the institution as a whole”.
