Rose began her employment with the then College of St Mark & St John on 17 April 1989. She has seen three name-changes, fed thousands of students and worked in every area of catering. She has been an evening supervisor and worked at hundreds of functions.

Her colleagues in the catering department presented Rose with Debenhams vouchers, wine, chocolates, champagne and a cake.

Rose is very fond of them and said, ‘The University of St Mark & St John is like a second family and has always been there for me. They found me extra work when I needed it. Much has changed – we used to make drinks from old-fashioned boilers; but the students remain the same.’

Michelle Brown, the Catering Manager at the University spoke about the high number of long-term staff that remain loyal to her team. She said, ‘Rose Croke is an outstanding employee who has provided over 25 years of essential service in catering to students, staff and outside guests. We are delighted this week to be able to present her with gifts that show our appreciation of all her hard work and commitment to make the University-experience so friendly. We look forward to working with her for many years to come.’
