World Champion Tom Daley took time out from his busy schedule to talk to BA (Hons) Sports Development students from the University of St Mark & St John. The 40 students who are currently covering the 'Sport and Excellence' module of the degree were able to talk to Tom about topics such as sports policy, the Olympics, the use of drugs in sport, funding, coaching and school/ training/life balance.
3rd Year Student Ashley Staines said:
"I thought the visit was great, a real eye opener to Tom's dedication and efforts so far. He is a really honest, polite young man, with the determination to succeed in and out of the pool!"
Senior Lecturer Julie Stevens said:
“As World Champion, Tom is aware of his unique place in the local community and is happy to give up his time and share his experiences to support our students in their learning. We will be following his progress with great interest and wish him every success, particularly in the 2012 Olympics.”
