Hannahs is the short name for the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust. Based in Seale-Hayne near Newton Abbot, it is over 200 years old and offers sport, outdoor leisure, art and music; as well as therapy, care and education.
Being a centre for sporting excellence, St Mark & St John is well placed to get involved with Hannahs fundraising events, such as skydiving, running in the Plymouth Half Marathon on 27 April, or going commando… which actually involves running 4, 10 or 17K on 6 September.
As well as sport, Hannahs plans to host student placements and take volunteers in their charity shops. A range of activities are planned such as bake-sales, coffee mornings and quiz nights. The university of St Mark & St John has already raised money for Hannahs through coffee mornings and by auctioning off IT equipment.
Community and Events Fundraiser Katie Hall says, ‘At Hannahs our mission is to advocate, empower and enrich the lives of children and young adults with a range of disabilities. This would not be possible without the help of supporters like the University of St Mark & St John.’
