The university choir opened the event in fine voice with a striking rendition of Adiemus, followed by a superb montage of images capturing memorable moments for the students during their stay in UK. The Malaysians prepared a feast of Asian cuisine and the university staff provided an array of calorific desserts, including a spectacular cake featuring the names of all 50 students in its design.
University staff and members of the Students Union performed a song in Malay and the university chaplain, Reverend Paul Thompson, invited each student to plant a seed so that flowers can bloom on campus for months to come as a reminder of their time at the university.
Professor Cara Aitchison, Vice Chancellor, spoke movingly of the outstanding contribution which the Malaysians have made to so many aspects of university life.
The evening culminated with a film tribute created by one of the Malaysian students, and a live music session from The Cuckoo Collective.
