University College Plymouth St Mark & St John

Student Regulations Framework 2011-12

The Student Regulations Framework, which is updated annually, is designed to provide students and staff with essential information about the University College. It contains both general information applicable to all students and the academic regulations specific to all the University College’s programmes both undergraduate and postgraduate.

The current (2011-12) version will remain in force until 30th September 2012 with the exception of Section 10 (Referencing and Scholarship) which is now available in its 2012-13 version on the Student Regulations Framework 2012-13 web page. After that date, it will be taken down and the 2012-13 version posted in its entirety. Students, particularly new students, are advised that the regulations will be subject to change and that it should not be assumed, therefore, that they will apply as currently worded in the forthcoming academic session

PDFs of the individual sections can be downloaded from this section of the website; please refer to the contents list for details of the coverage of each section.

The University College deems any additional information it intends to deliver to a student to have been received by that student if:

  • It is published on the University College website, Learningspace or any VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) whose existence has been notified to students.
  • It is sent by electronic mail to the student’s University College e-mail account, provided that five working days (or fifteen working days during vacations) shall elapse before receipt can be presumed. The student is responsible for ensuring that any e-mails sent to his/her University College e-mail address are redirected to any personal e-mail address. Instructions on how to do so are available at Induction and through the University College Computing Services helpdesk.
  • The Module Leader gives it to students in person at the first lecture or point of contact at the commencement of the delivery of the module (note that it is the responsibility of individual students who, for any reason, were not present when that information was provided, to take whatever steps are necessary to acquire the information);
  • It is delivered by hand to a student in person, or to the latest address notified to the University College as his or her local or home address, and the person delivering it has certified a copy of the document to that effect: or
  • It is sent by first class mail, or Recorded or Special Delivery, to the latest address notified to the University College as his or her local or home address provided that five working days (or fifteen working days during vacations) shall elapse before receipt can be presumed.

In view of the above, it is vital that all students notify any changes of address to Registry in writing (e-mail is acceptable) immediately. It is also vital that students make appropriate arrangements to collect any mail that has been sent to them by Recorded or Special Delivery

Any enquiries about the Framework should be addressed to Norman Jope, Academic Standards Officer (NJope@marjon.ac.uk).
