Appointment of new visiting professor

Congratulations to Dr Colette Gray (Senior Lecturer in Education), Stranmillis University College, Queen’s University Belfast, who has been appointed to the post of Visiting Professor in Child Development & Education within the School of Education and Professional Development (SEPD) at University College Plymouth St Mark & St John. The award is in recognition of Dr. Gray’s substantial contribution to scholarly academic research and her extensive publication record in the field of education.

In her role as Visiting Professor Colette will work along side staff in the School of Education and Professional Development to assist in the development of research activity, establishing further links with national and international partners, working with existing research groups in the University College and collaborating in the dissemination of research findings. It is hoped that Colette will deliver her inaugural lecture at UCP Marjon in November 2009.

Dr. Sean MacBlain, Reader in Child Development and Disability in the School of Education and Professional Development said:

“This is an excellent appointment and a tremendous opportunity for both the School and the University College as a whole to further develop our research profile.  We are very excited about this appointment and are looking forward to working with Dr. Gray in the new academic year”.

Dr. Gray expressed her delight at being offered the position and said that she was very much looking forward to working with staff at UCP Marjon.
