UCP Marjon welcomes Vietnamese visitors

Released: 03.09.10

In August, three senior personnel specialising in English language teaching from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Vietnam spent two weeks at UCP Marjon as part of the Prime Minister’s Initiative programme called Connect UK – East Asia. Other eligible countries for such collaborative programme delivery are South Korea, Thailand and Indonesia.

The three were working on the development of modules for a proposed joint BA (Hons) 4-year degree programme, involving the learning of English as a international language for specific study areas such as Business, Economics, Environmental Science, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Information and Communications Technology. The project will enable undergraduates in Vietnam to gain more appropriate qualifications to enable them to enter the international job market in these areas after graduation.

As well as UCP Marjon’s collaboration in the development of the new programme, the partnership agreement will also involve exchanges between staff of the two universities, as well as UCP Marjon staff travelling to Hanoi to engage in quality assurance and staff development  activities over the next two years.
