Applying and Clearing FAQs

You may have a number of questions about your application, the Clearing process, and what happens once you have got your exam results.

If you can't find the answer to your question here please contact us on marjonclearing@marjon.ac.uk.

What is Clearing?

Clearing is a university application service available between July and September. It enables students to find and apply to universities which still have places available on specific courses. For further information see the UCAS Clearing website.

From Tuesday 4th July 2023, you can apply for a course using Clearing if you do not currently have an offer from a university. If you have already received an offer to study at university, but would like to apply elsewhere, you can apply through Clearing from A-level results day on Thursday 17th August 2023. Clearing closes on Tuesday 18th October 2022.

Do I have to be registered on UCAS to apply through Clearing?

Yes, you have to be registered with UCAS before we can process your application. All Clearing applications can only be made through UCAS.

How can I find out if your courses have space through Clearing?

We anticipate having spaces on some of our courses. If you are looking for courses available in Clearing please check the UCAS website or call us – we are here to help. You do not need to have applied to Marjon already.

If you are holding an offer from another university, you will need to be released into Clearing by that institution. Please email us on marjonclearing@marjon.ac.uk if you need any help understanding the Clearing process.

What happens after I complete the Clearing form?

We’ll receive your enquiry and we’ll be in touch to get some more information about your qualifications and to see how we can help.

If you haven't heard from us, it may be because we can't get through on the phone or our email has gone to your junk folder. Drop us an email at admissions@marjon.ac.uk.

What do I do if I'm offered a place?

We’ll guide you through submitting an application depending on where you are in the process. Make sure you know where your certificates are - even if you took them a while ago, we will still need to confirm you hold the qualifications you say you do.

As an offer-holder, you will receive a range of information before September about student life at Marjon, accommodation, what you need to do to prepare, how to enrol, and much more. If you have any specific queries, you can always email visitus@marjon.ac.uk and we'll be more than happy to help.

What can I do if I'm already holding a place at another university?

If you are holding a place at another university but interested in a course at Marjon instead, by all means contact us for more information. We are happy to talk to you.

We would not be able to make you a formal offer unless you have been released by your first university and the Clearing system means that you must have received your grades as it would be an automatic Unconditional offer if appropriate.

Get in touch with us, by emailing admissions@marjon.ac.uk, for more information. In the meantime, you’re welcome to have a look at our course pages, book a campus tour, or chat to a current Marjon student.

Can I defer my place and start in 2024?

Please email admissions@marjon.ac.uk to request this. It would be helpful if you could explain why you want to defer.

We may need to talk to the Programme Lead for the course you have an offer for, and we’ll be in touch with you once we have an outcome.

Is it too late to apply to University?

Not at all: plenty of people apply through Clearing or late on in the process. Some courses may already be full, but you can check that on our Clearing enquiry page. We'll help you to apply, then we'll support you to get ready and gather all the information you need to be ready to start in September.

You can apply for Student Finance now even if you’re waiting to hear back from us and you can have a look at our accommodation and take a campus tour.

What can I do if I'm still waiting for my results?

If you have applied to Marjon and still waiting for your results

Don’t worry – we are holding your place until you have your final result, if you have any updates on your results please let us know at admissions@marjon.ac.uk.

If you have not yet applied to Marjon and still waiting for your results

If you are interested in a place at Marjon but still awaiting results, please email marjonclearing@marjon.ac.uk.

If you have your results but there is no change on UCAS

If you have received your final confirmed results, but there is no change on your UCAS status, please email a copy of your results to admissions@marjon.ac.uk. Please note that we can't accept provisional results.

If you need some addition help

If you’d like to visit campus, speak to a current student, an academic or other staff (such as Student Support or Student Funding) please get in contact with Charley at applicantsupport@marjon.ac.uk

Can I speak to a lecturer about the course?

Of course, our lecturers are always happy to chat to future students! We know that a conversation can really help you to ask all the critical questions about the course, and get to know them before you start.

Whether you've made your decision or are weighing up options, a conversation about the course can really help.

Please get in touch with our Student Recruitment team who will be able to arrange this for you, on visitus@marjon.ac.uk or call on 01752 636727.

Will I get accommodation on campus?

We still have space in our on-campus accommodation, and you can apply as soon as you hold an offer from us that you have "firm accepted", so make sure you get your application in before we run out!

I've emailed you but not heard back

We aim to get back to everyone promptly, but please do call us on 0800 015 2534.

Please note that as we approach A-Level Results Day, there are strict rules which govern what guidance we can offer and what changes can be made to applications. From 31 July, universities are unable to make any changes to applications until after results have been released.

Also, in the week leading up to A Level Results Day we are restricted in what information we can discuss with applicants. During this time, please email us at admissions@marjon.ac.uk and we’ll reply as soon as we’re able to.
