Reading Lists
Pre-course Reading Lists
Books are not cheap (averaging around £20) and so you are not expected to buy everything that appears on your reading lists. You will be guided by your tutors, who will make it clear at the start of the course if they think a book is a worthwhile investment for you.
If books are considered to be essential for your course, then you may want to buy them, but there is no urgency for this, and remember, it might be possible to buy second hand. If you are uncertain, then consult one of your tutors, they should know which books are most useful.
There are various places to buy books in Plymouth:
- UCP Marjon Campus Bookshop – stocks many course texts and texts to order
- Second hand copies advertised on notice boards around the University College
- Waterstones and WH Smith in the city centre – national chains
- ‘University Bookseller’ near the University of Plymouth – academic books
Make good use of the library. UCP Marjon has an excellent library keeping copies of core and further reading along with an extensive stock of relevant journals. You will be given an introduction to the library during your induction week.
