Preparation for Interview
In order to prepare for the interview, all applicants for Physical Education are asked to:
- access /read the National Curriculum for Physical Education available from http://curriculum.qcda.gov.uk/
- request verification of your classroom experience from the school on headed paper to present at interview.
Documents to be Printed, Completed and Brought to Interview
Literacy Assessment
All applicants will be asked to take a literacy ‘test’ at interview. This is in order to assess their command of written Standard English and reading. Command of spoken Standard English is assessed during the interview.
For the literacy assessment at interview:
- Applicants are asked to read a short article from a national newspaper on an educational topic and respond to this in writing
- Applicants are given a pupil’s written response and asked to identify any errors in spelling, punctuation and grammar
Applicants will also be asked to discuss a set article in an informal way with the interviewers. This will be made available for you to read during the day. The article is entitled ‘Coalition's Mr Culture wants to be a 2012 winner!' written by Richard Vaughan, published in the Times Educational Supplement 22nd April 2011 or you may wish to access the article earlier from www.tes.co.uk
