There is a growing demand for a course of this level. Entry Requirements
FdSc degree in Sport Therapy from a recognised and validated course from the Society of Sports Therapists. Pass bridging work in the form of a 1500 dissertation proposal and formal interview. A CRB check and ISA registration are also required.
Module Information
- Diagnostics and Injury Management –This module will focus on the diagnosis and management of common sports and exercise related injuries.
- Professionalism, Innovations and Ethics in Sports Therapy - This module will allow the student to explore and analyse the development and innovations of sports therapy, which will stimulate the student towards developing an approach to sports therapy that see innovation and change as essential components of the therapy process.
- Injury Prevention and Management – A key aspect of sports therapy is the biomechanical factors that contribute to or cause a sports injury. The mechanism of specific injuries will be discussed and how these injuries may be prevented.
- Biomechanical measurement and analysis of joints, muscles and their actions will be performed on both normal and, where possible, injured subjects.
- Academic and Practical Sports Therapy – The aim of the module is to further develop students’ comprehension of anatomy and advanced practical techniques. Overall it provides the learner with an applied practical understanding of anatomy which is integral to the course and is important to ensure technical competence and safety. The learner will also demonstrate advanced practical techniques.
