Hardship Fund
Students facing real financial difficulties can apply for help from the substantial fund UCP Marjon has set aside to provide support for those who need it most.
Other Support
Don’t forget you can also apply to your Local Authority (LA) for other financial help. This includes:
• Tuition Fee Loan: You can apply for a loan to cover either the full amount or a partial amount of your tuition fees. This does not have to be repaid until after you graduate, and are earning more than £15,000 per annum. The money you borrow will be paid directly to your university or college, so you will not have to worry about this.
• Maintenance Grant: This is a non-repayable grant based on household income. For households with an income of less than £25,000 you will receive £2,835 in 2008 (a grant which is greater than our tuition fees). For households with an income up to £60,000 you will receive a partial grant depending on the actual income.
• Maintenance Loan: This again doesn’t have to be repaid until after you graduate and are earning more than £15,000 per annum. How much maintenance loan you can get depends on how much maintenance grant you receive and your household income. If you receive a higher grant, your loan will be lower, if you receive less grant, you will be able to get a higher loan.
