BA (Hons) Sport Development - Progression4B73

    Course Overview

    Duration: 1 Year.
  • This BA (Hons) Sport Development (Progression) programme is designed for students who already hold a relevant foundation degree and who want to complete an additional year of study to achieve a BA (Hons) degree.

By taking this sport development progression course, you can make yourself much more employable: sports development and coaching are increasingly graduate professions.

The course was designed in partnership with employers from the sports industry via our Professional Advisory Group, to build on the vocational relevance of foundation degrees.

We offer you the opportunity to meet your individual study needs through a choice of sport development and coaching modules, so that your experience on the programme is personalised to meet your academic and career aspirations.

The programme is tailored to appeal to University of St Mark & St John foundation degree students, as well as to individuals who have achieved a foundation degree with another institution. The strong academic framework explores key issues within sports development and coaching to ensure students have a critical understanding of the sport and leisure sector.

The programme can form a route to postgraduate-level progression or directly to employment. We prepare students with a diverse range of practical work-based skills, applied academic knowledge, and research and evaluation skills which all culminate in an honours-level project. You’ll determine the topic of your honours-level research project, so this provides a great opportunity to develop expertise in an area that you are passionate about.

Students engage with key issues on a practical, vocational and theoretical basis to ensure they have a well-rounded experience of higher education. You will be taught by sports development and coaching academics who have extensive professional industry experience and excellent professional relationships within the sector.
