The Resources Library (sometimes called Teaching Practice or TP) is where you will find material to help you while you are on your Teaching Practice placement. Stock within the Resources Library is comprised of books and big books plus non-book material, namely audio cassettes, CDs, CD-ROMs, folders, posters, multimedia packs, videos and DVDs. The Resources Library uses the same classification system as the Main Library, the Dewey Decimal system.
Anyone can borrow from the Resources library as part of their loan entitlement. However education students are entitled to an additional 15 resource items as well as their 10 main library items. If you wish these can be all books, or you can have a mixture of the items listed above except for videos, CDs and audio cassettes as these are classed as main library stock. When on placement it is your responsibility to renew items as fines will still be charged.
Most resource items may be borrowed for a five week period, unless classed as a restricted weekly loan, identifiable by a green date label and dot on the spine of the book or as an overnight loan, identifiable by a purple date label and dot on the spine of the book. Videos, CDs, audio cassettes, DVDs and CD-ROMs are classed as main library loans and are issued for a three week period.
Other Library Services

This service must be arranged through the placement school. Discuss the matter with the class teacher. To obtain a collection you will need to get an appropriate request form from your school which must be signed by the Head Teacher. SCONUL Access
SCONUL Access replaces the existing UK Libraries Plus (UKLP) and SCONUL Research Extra (SRX) schemes from 01 August 2007. If you have an existing UK Libraries Plus or SCONUL Research Extra card this is still valid.
SCONUL Access is a co-operative venture between most of the higher education libraries of the UK and Ireland. It enables staff, research students, full time postgraduates and all part-time, distance learning and most placement students to borrow material from other libraries.
More information regarding SCONUL Access can be obtained from the SCONUL Access website or by contacting the Library Enquiry desk
