What's New in your University College Library?

The New Library Catalogue

The Library has recently upgraded its catalogue. It looks different but you can still search for all the information you did previously – plus more! You can limit your searches to include or exclude certain types of item, eg 3 day or weekly loan, or ebooks. You can search only for items which are in stock and you can also retrieve information in searches when you’re not quite sure exactly how the words are spelled. You can still renew (unless the items are on hold or your fines exceed £5) and reserve items online (unless they are in stock and on the shelves). You can also see what items you currently have on loan, what you have borrowed previously, what fines you owe and what fines you’ve paid in the past.

Helpguides will follow shortly but if you have any problems using the catalogue or accessing your account please speak to a member of Library staff or email Library Enquiries at libraryenquiries@marjon.ac.uk

Book Returns Box

The Library now has a box where you can return books to save time queuing at the counter. The box is emptied regularly during the day and books are then returned to the Library shelves, or held for reservations.

Please only return books in the box, not CDs or DVDs which may result in damage to the discs, for which you may be charged. Only return books which will fit through the slot, do not leave larger items on top of the box. Short loan items should be returned to a member of staff and not place in the box.

The Library has purchased the bbox in response to students asking for somewhere secure to return their books, in order to save them from having to wait in long queues simply to return books. However please be aware that if you want to return books and borrow others shortly afterwards we advise you to do this at the issue desk. The box is emptied several times a day but your returned books may stillbe there if you then wish to borrow books soon afterwards.

Online renewals

Please remember that you can renew the books on your account in person at the Library, online or by phone. If you encounter any problems when renewing online please contact the Library straightaway, either by phoning (the phone number is on the date label inside each book) or by emailling Library enquiries.

3 day loans can be renewed 10 times, if you renew online they will be renewed for 3 days but this may result in your books being due back at a weekend. If you renew in the Library or over the phone we will edit the due date to ensure that this doesn't happen.

When renewing online always ensure you check the date that the books are due back. If you have books with different loan periods they will be due back at different dates.

Card payments

The Library now accept card payments at the Library counter or over the phone.
