Off Air Recordings - Television and Radio

Requests taken between 09.00 - 17.00

Requests for recordings should be made to the Media Services Technician on the appropriate form giving full details of programme, channel, duration etc. A programme schedule is available on request.

It is essential to give five days notice where possible. Last minute requests are possible to accommodate but should be avoided unless circumstances affect requirements.

If the request comes from a subject group, recordings can only be made where video or audiotape is charged to the subject group or an existing recording erased.

Note: due to licensing restrictions any Open University programmes requested by staff or students will be held in Media Services as loanable items.

Playback

Requests for playback facilities should be made to the Media Services Technician, giving as much notice as possible.

Details should be given as to time, location and any special instructions.

Individual viewing facilities are available in the Resources Library.

Equipment

Requests for the loan of equipment ie. slide projectors, cassette recorders etc are available by arrangement with the Media Services Technicians. All equipment will be issued on your library card.

Equipment borrowed for use on campus by staff for lectures and seminars is due back on the same day. The equipment should be returned to Media Services during normal opening hours but where this is not possible, equipment can be left at the library counter. Sophisticated equipment is not normally available for off campus locations or in students accommodation but arrangements can be made to use items such as portable video cameras by consulting the Media Services Technicians and Course Leaders.

Preparation and Copying of Audio Tapes

Three days notice is required for this work and requests should be made to the Media Services Technician.

Recording

Recording facilities are available for lectures, seminars, observation and simulation sessions and colleagues should consult the Media Services Technicians for further information. Normally seven days notice is required.

Members of staff may also arrange the use of recording facilities for students working on projects, providing the work is carried out under the supervision of academic or technical staff.
