UCP Marjon recognises that many students will be combining their studies with caring for children. By opting to study at UCP Marjon, students may be looking for child care to enable them to under-take higher education.
Entrusting your child to another person or organisation is a big step so you may want to do some research before you decide which nursery, pre-school or child minder to choose.
Flying Start Nursery and Little Saints Pre-School (tel: 01752 777327) are both located within the UCP Marjon grounds in purpose-designed buildings
Students may also wish to consider other options in the area/city. A full range of child care facilities is available through Plymouth City Council’s and the Direct Gov web sites
Financial help for parents in Higher Education
Full-time students with children may qualify for extra financial help on top of the standard student finance package.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to get:
- the Childcare Grant (to help with childcare costs)
- the Parents' Learning Allowance (to help towards course costs - like books, materials and travel)
- help through the Access to Learning Fund (if you're in financial difficulty)
- Child Tax Credit
