THE CHAPLAINCY CENTRE
All are welcome to use these facilities.
The Marshall Room
The, newly extended, Marshall Room is probably the most comfortable space on campus. Eat your lunch here, or pop in for a break between lectures. Lounge on the sofas and use the TV and DVD player. Fairtrade tea, coffee and toast making facilities are available in the kitchen area at a small cost and a selection of Fairtrade spreads, chocolate and snacks are for sale. There is also a microwave oven and a cooker for you to heat up your own food.
The Quiet Room
This multi-faith space for prayer, meditation and silent reflection is available to any who wish to use it. Please make use of the 'do not disturb' sign if you wish. The room is a neutral space and is used by many of the University College's faith communities. Prayer mats, Islamic prayer times and geographical directions for Islamic prayer are all available as well as soft furnishings and a Yoga mat for other religious traditions.
The Chapel
The Chapel of St Mark & St John Baptist is a place of worship, prayer and reflection for any who wish to use it. It is a beautiful and restful space at the heart of the University College. During the day it is normally available as a place of sanctuary and quiet with tables for quiet work and a table stocked with art materials for creative reflection. It is the setting for most of our services including:-
- Holy Communion - Tuesday @ 12.30pm
- 8.30am - Morning Prayer (Mon - Fri)
- 4.00pm - Evening Prayer (Mon - Fri)
The Chaplain’s Office
When the Chaplan is in his office the door is normally open so that you can pop in and say hello. He is available for a chat, to seek advice; or talk about anything at all whether or not it has to do with Christianity, religious faith in general, or his role in the college. The Chaplain is also available for more private conversations and the Chaplain's office can be a quiet private space for this purpose. (There is a link to the Chaplaincy Confidentiality policy on the Chaplaincy Home Page)
The Chaplaincy Office
There is almost always a Chaplaincy Assistant or a Student Chaplaincy Assistant available in the Chaplaincy Office. Come in and meet the team! You can just pop in for a chat and meet us and anyone else that might be around. There is always something happening here! People drop in and out all day to listen to ideas, give information, help with problems, or just chat.
