Marjon Computing and Media Services
Computing and Media Services aims to provide and support a range of information delivery, computing based services which will further the aims and objectives of UCP Marjon and in particular enhance the educational environment for students and assist staff at all levels in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities.
We are based in the lower floor of the Library next to the 24 hour room, telephone extension 4333.
Computing Services and Media Services provides the 1st line support for IT and Media related problems and also the first point of contact with customers for the department.
Initial contact is achieved primarily through submitting a job via the Help Desk (just type helpdesk in to a browser) or call us on the telephone alternatively pop up and see us and we will try our best to sort out any IT problems for you.
Student Information
When you join Marjon you will be allocated a student number and password and these will be your network login and authentication to access resources on the network. We encourage you to set up a profile on the Password Reset Manager system so you can change the password via the Internet.
As a student with us you will have your own private storage folder on our network which allows you to store up-to 500Mb of data on it, it has the letter N: and your student number to identify it. You will also see your network storage use when you log in on a UC computer.
Please note that all student facing computers in the UC are protected by DeepFreeze which reverts the machine back to a default state at every restart. Please save work to an external device (USB drive, DVD etc...), email it to yourself or save to your UC network drive. If you do not save work and the machine restarts the work will be wiped and there is nothing we can do to retrieve it.
Your email account has 50Mb storage limit and your email address is in the form of studentnumber@student.marjon.ac.uk you need to manage your email otherwise it will temporarily close if it exceeds 50Mb in size (you will get a warning as it gets close to the limit), but once you reduce the mailbox size you will gain immediate access again.
If you have any questions please contact the Computing Services team next to the 24 hour room (near the main Library) or email computingservices@marjon.ac.uk and we will assist in your query.
