Receiving EmailsI get a message email message each day telling me that some emails have been quarantined; what does that mean?
All suspected spam is caught and held by our Sophos appliance which generates an automatic email to staff colleagues informing them of any suspected spam held for them. This filters out nuisance e-mails that are sent out on mass to users (spammers). Any quarantined e-mails can be accessed by typing Sophos into the web browser. Login in with your credentials you use to log onto the network. This will allow you to manage your quarantined email, you can then delete any email or have opt to have it sent onto your account, please remember that no system is 100% perfect.
If you do have spam in your quarantine area you will receive an automated message from which will contain the subject line text from any suspected spam;
You may find that some of the text might be offensive/explicit, after all it is spam! Please remember that the College has no control over the content of any email. If you do not wish to see any of the subject lines you can opt out of receiving the quarantine message, but be aware you will not be prompted to manage any spam at all and you may miss an email, identified as spam, which you actually want.

What is a (.pst) file?
A PST file is a personal folder. Once created this will enable you to move items from your inbox to this location. This will free up space on your inbox. You could create many PSTs eg., subjects A-G, H-M and N-Z thus breaking up each on or even archive by month or similar, the choice is yours.
Once a .pst has been created it can be added back in to your mailbox by clicking File > Open > Outlook Data File and browsing to the archive you want to add.
