The IT Training & Support Unit (previously known as Marjon Open Learning Unit), located within the 24 hour Computer Room, provides high quality IT training in a friendly, welcoming and relaxed learning environment. We deliver a range of computer courses and can also help you with your IT problems.
Free training is available for all University staff and students. Courses are offered on a flexible basis to fit in with individual lifestyles and are available for the complete beginner to those requiring advanced skills (Level 3). Most courses offer a nationally recognised vocational qualification.
Not interested in taking any exams? No problem! We can tailor the training to your individual needs so that you can learn exactly what you want.
Please note that we currently do not offer training to members of the public. Members of the public are able to attend 'Examination Sessions' to take exams for the ECDL and ECDL Advanced qualifications that are delivered on specific dates and times. Please contact the Unit for more information.

An introductory taster and advice session will provide a taste of what can be expected on our courses. You will then be able to discuss your training needs with a tutor and decide which course is suitable for you.
What is the cost?
Training is free for all students and staff; however there are charges if you wish to take an exam. Exam prices are charged separately depending on the course. The decision to take an examination is optional – learners just requiring skills update are under no pressure to sit exams. Please contact us for more details.
What to do next?
Phone or e-mail the Unit to arrange a taster session. After an initial induction, training is on a flexible basis. You may join the programme at any time. You will work at your own pace, with tutor support where required, or attend specific taught sessions. If the lines are busy, the answer-machine will be activated. Please leave your name and telephone number and someone will return your call as soon as possible.
