Widening Participation Initiatives
The University College is committed to fulfilling its mission statement of implementing the Government's aim to widen and increase participation in Higher Education by groups currently under-represented.
To achieve our aim, we have an exceptional outreach team, who, through a programme of targeted and stimulating activities, raise the aspirations and awareness for Higher Education study. These activities are specifically targeted at schools, colleges and community groups across the South West region and include subject specific Taster Days in the University College, the UCP Marjon Book Award, E-mentoring, a Summer Residential and our Student Shadowing scheme.
UCP Marjon also acts in collaboration with other Higher Education providers and organisations such as Aimhigher. The University College manages the Aimhigher Peninsular Programme Strand 2, which identifies, recruits and deploys paid Student Ambassadors from current students at Marjon and other HE providers in the South West. These students work in a number of settings with the aim of increasing and widening participation.
