We’ll provide you a list of essentials prior to the event. However, as this is an outdoor adventure race - expect the unexpected!
You’ll want to pack as light as possible to avoid carrying unnecessary weight, but of course you also want to be prepared.
As a rough guide, we’d recommend the following items.
1. Appropriate shoes for various outdoor activities (e.g. running, orienteering, cycling, climbing). A range of climbing boots will be available at the activity venue, those of you with cleated cycling shoes will need additional suitable multi-surface trainers.
2. Waterproofs – can’t guarantee a sunny day
3. Extra socks
4. Backpack
5. Watch
6. Pen/pencil and highlighter
7. Whistle
8. Food (recommend 2 energy bars for quick refuel or equivalent). Your route may take you past shops and cafes!
9. Water – definitely water. There will be opportunities to refill en-route.
10. Mobile phone
11. First aid kit (bandages, pain killers; antiseptic)
12. Waterproof pouch (for the map)
13. Compass
Of course don’t forget your mountain bike and helmet.
On the day at registration you will be given your race number and map.
Please see the Bike Maintenance from Cogs Bikes in preparing your bike for the race.
