Helen joined UCP St Mark and St John in 2008 to work with teachers and members of the wider children’s workforce engaged in master’s studies through a programme largely undertaken at a distance. Helen’s role has broadened and now includes facilitating a range of professional development programmes at post graduate and under graduate level, including some involving distance learning both in the UK and further afield. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), she is also programme leader for UCP Marjon’s own modules that lead to HEA fellowship for participants.
Helen’s academic career is relatively recent, beginning after the completion of her own MA at the University of Wolverhampton. Previously, after earlier training and employment in the construction industry and a BA in Leisure and Recreational Management, she held a senior management role in one of the UK’s leading training organisations. For the past twenty years or so she has managed her own training and consultancy business which she now combines with her academic role at Marjon. Helen is also a qualified counsellor, coach and mediator and believes that the two different strands of her work over lap, complement and enrich each other.
