Do you need help with your dissertation? Not sure where to find information? Feeling like you don’t know where to start?!
Then get that help with researching and writing your dissertation and receive a FREE cover and dissertation binding from the Copy Shop! It’s called ‘Going for Gold’ and it’s a win/win situation for you!
Here’s how it works: For the next few weeks the Library and Academic Skills will be running timetabled sessions, as well as providing a drop-in service to take you through subjects like finding information using our online resources, effectively searching the internet, referencing and dissertation writing. Attend three sessions and collect three stamps on your ‘Going for Gold’ card* and you will receive a free set of covers and binding for one of your dissertation copies.**
Half-hour timetabled information skills sessions will take place at a variety of times and days:
Academic Journal Databases
Effective Internet Searching
The first half hour of each session will cover using library resources like academic journal databases, interlibrary lending etc. The second will cover effective internet searching for academic work. Come to one, or come to both it’s totally up to you. We aim to be flexible, answer your questions and give you hands-on experience. All sessions will be held in the IT Training Room, which is accessed through the 24 Hour Computer Room. E-mail Steve at firstname.lastname@example.org to be sure and reserve a place, or take a chance and just turn up (there are only 13 places per session though!).
For up to date details please see the Going for Gold page on the Library area of Learning Space
Come to the library any time between 12 and 1 for a drop-in session on Information Skills with one of our professional staff. We’ll also try to fit you in at other times – just come in and ask! If you want help with Academic Skills (academic writing, critical thinking, referencing and the like) then contact our Academic Skills Coordinator, Helen Heywood at email@example.com, to book an appointment. Helen also has drop-in sessions in the Library at different times every week and posts the next week’s times here http://moodle.marjon.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=712 in the ‘Latest News’ section.
If you have booked on to a dissertation formatting session with IT Training and Support through your lecturer, the good news is that these sessions will qualify you for a stamp as well. Keep an eye on the Marjon Community News Hub for more of these sessions that individuals can book themselves on to without having to be part of class.
