The Chaplaincy Centre: at the heart of the University

The Chaplaincy Centre is a place to worship and pray, learn and think, but also a welcoming environment to drink tea and eat cake with other students. Plymouth Marjon University is a Church Foundation University. This heritage means that the Chaplaincy service welcomes people of all backgrounds and faith positions.

The Chaplaincy team consists of the Chaplain, Rev. Michelle Parkman and the Chaplaincy Assistant, Claire McIlroy. For our latest updates see the Chaplaincy Facebook page.

The Chapel

The Chapel is a place of worship, prayer and reflection for any who wish to use it. It is a beautiful and restful space. During the day it is normally available as a place of sanctuary and quiet prayer, however a quiet study space is also available.

Marshall Room

The Marshall Room is named after Alan Spencer Marshall, a former Marjon student (1953-1955). It is a comfortable common room and popular meeting place available to any students or staff who wish to use it. Tea, coffee, toast and Fairtrade snacks are available throughout the year for a small charge.

The Quiet Room

The Quiet Room is a multi-faith room reserved for prayer, meditation and silent reflection. A 'room in use' sign can be used to aid privacy.

Christian Union

The student-led Christian Union (CU) meets every week in the Chaplaincy Centre on Tuesday evenings at 7.00pm. The CU is affiliated to UCCF which facilitates Christian Unions at universities and colleges throughout England. CUs are inter-denominational and members are drawn from many diverse backgrounds, spiritually and socially. They're all committed to working together in unity, whatever their Christian background might be. Marjon CU meets in the Chaplaincy Centre located in the centre of the campus.
