A number of AoC Sport South West regional tournaments will take place on Wednesday November 11 and Wednesday November 18 at Marjon Sport Centre, on the University of St Mark & St John campus in Plymouth.
Students from colleges across the South West will compete in the regional heats of men’s football, women’s hockey and netball tournaments, vying for a place in the national championships.
Stan Cinnamond, Director of Sport at the University of St Mark & St John, said: “We’re delighted to welcome over 800 students from across the wider South West region to try out our world-class sport facilities and students will also have a chance to learn about the courses offered by our Faculty of Sport & Health Sciences.
“We’re looking forward to talking to students who are interested in pursuing a career in health, rehabilitation and sport sciences.”
AoC Sport Managing Director, Marcus Kingwell, said: “Students will be competing at the highest level in the South West and getting together to showcase their achievements. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to raise their game with their eyes firmly on the national prize.
“Everything is in place for the 2016 Championships to be the most successful to date and we anticipate they will be the perfect platform to reinforce our new strategy: ‘Fit for College, Fit for Work, Fit for Life’, which outlines our ambition to get every student active.”
The winners of each event will progress to the National Championships in Tyne and Wear, in April.
The University of St Mark & St John will also host the badminton tournaments, women’s football, men’s Ability Counts football, men’s hockey and swimming events next Wednesday November 18.
