Senior Lecturer to enhance Spanish cultural policy

Ian Gilhespy, Senior Lecturer, will present his research to leading Spanish cultural organisations at a national arts and culture symposium.

Mr Gilhespy has been invited by The Catalan National Council for Culture and Arts (CoNCA, Consell Nacional de la Cultura i de les Arts), to deliver his keynote, ‘Measuring the Performance of Cultural Organisations’, in Barcelona on the 17 April 2015.

He said: “The invitation to be a keynote speaker in Barcelona is an honour and I’m looking forward to speaking there and contributing to the development of the country’s cultural policy.”

In addition to his roles at the University of St Mark & St John as Learning Enhancement Coordinator and lecturer, Mr Gilhespy is also an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Arts Management.

He has delivered papers at conferences around the globe in locations such as Milan, Rotterdam, Colorado Springs, Helsinki and San Francisco. His other research interests include recreation and planning, digital materials in learning and teaching, and visual research methods.

CoNCA was launched in March 2009, in response to a claim against the Spanish Government from the cultural sector, in order to renew and expand cultural policies.
