Title: Seeking Stillness: Moving Beyond 'Move More' for Health and Wellbeing

Dr Cassandra Phoenix, Report, Department of Health, University of Bath

Dr Phoenix is a Reader from University of Bath, her research interests focus on ageing, health and wellbeing. Her recent projects have examined the role of physical activity in shaping expectations and experiences of ageing; the impact of late onset sight loss in older adults on being physically active; how the notion of 'ageing well' intersects with the wellbeing of people living with Meniere's disease; and the use of outdoor environments to manage and promote wellbeing.

Karen McNicholl, PGCE PE Primary and Secondary course leader, Liverpool Hope University

This presentation will outline how I have managed my challenging roles and maintained a focus on my research, particularly in light of Ofsted’s imminent arrival in the summer term. My research area relates to supporting teacher wellbeing through exercise and practice interventions in school. I will discuss the research process, including the impact of support from with my supervisors and colleagues, the design of my research questions around trainees, teachers and pupils’ emergent needs and the use of my specialist trainees as co-researchers.
