Angela MacBlain


Angela has had a varied career in education and social care; her experiences have included managing a residential care home for adults with multiple disabilities and being part of the senior management team of a day service for adults with learning disabilities. Angela has lectured in FE across a range of courses in health and social care and also managed specialist programmes for students with learning disabilities.

Angela has worked in Belfaston ‘cross community’ programmes and was the author of a transition pathway for young people with special educational needs entering adult services.

Angela currently works for Plymouth City Council transformation team and is engaged in projects related to children’s services and adult social care and has served on the Transitions and Carers strategic boards. Since completing her M.Ed at Marjon, Angela has joined the team as a University College Tutor. Angela is currently involved in researching aspects of disability and learning and recently co-presented her research at an international conference in Cork, Ireland. Angela’s specialist area of interest is the impact upon families who care for others with learning disabilities.
