Halls & Houses

Our seven halls of residence are:

  • Cromwell (54 standard rooms)
  • Hudson (54 standard rooms)
  • Clark (54 standard rooms)
  • Coleridge (12 standard rooms, 20 en suite rooms)
  • Kay-Shuttleworth (12 standard rooms, 20 en suite rooms)
  • Tufnell (12 standard rooms, 20 en suite rooms)
  • Dix (34 standard rooms, two purpose-built en suite wet rooms for students with mobility impairments)

Each hall is three storeys (no lifts). Standard-room flats are single sex and en suite flats are mixed gender.

We have 38 village houses.  Each house is two story (no lifts).  Houses are mainly standard with some smaller rooms, houses can be single sex or mixed gender.



Current Accommodation Rates

Standard rooms in halls and houses are priced at £95-£100 per week, while en suite accommodation costs £110-£115 per week, while some smaller rooms are available in the village at £90-£95 per week.  Dix Hall and Houses 22 and 23 have a purpose-built en suite wet rooms for students with impaired mobility. These are priced at £110-£115 per week.

Rates include heating, lighting, wifi access, computer support and personal contents insurance. When we send you an offer of accommodation, we’ll break down an annual payment plan with your annual residence fees and an £820 Dining-In-Scheme card charge. You pay the University direct for youraccommodation and can pay either:

  • In full
  • In instalments - 18 weeks due September 2019, 12 weeks due January 2020 and 12 weeks due April 2020 (in-line with payments of grants and loans from the Student Loan Company)
  • Or a parent, guardian or other third party can pay on your behalf via standing order of eight payments, the first due September 2098 then on the 1st of each month from November 2019 to May 2020


Kitchen Facilities

Cooking Up A Storm

Whether you’re just finding your feet or you’re already a keen chef, we’re sure you’ve considered how you’ll feed yourself. Each student at the University has access to a communal kitchen/diner or kitchen and lounge. Every kitchen is kitted out with a kettle, fridges, freezers (or a fridge/freezer), a microwave, a cooker and a toaster. You’ll also find an ironing board, but students are asked to supply their own iron. In Cromwell, Hudson and Clark halls, the kitchen/diner is shared between nine residents. In Coleridge, Kay-Shuttleworth and Tufnell halls (ground floor), each is shared between six residents. In Kay-Shuttleworth and Tufnell (first and second floors) the kitchen/diner is shared between five residents and in Dix, each is shared between six residents. Houses are shared between four or five residents. All first-year students must participate in the Dining-In-Scheme which gives you a pre-paid card to buy meals and food supplies across the campus.



What you'll find in your room

When you move in, your room will be kitted out with a single bed, mattress, mattress cover, bedside cabinet, wardrobe, desk, desk chair, noticeboard, waste bin, carpet, blackout blind and central heating. Some bedrooms also feature a chest of drawers and/or an easy chair. All standard rooms are fitted with hand-washing basin and vanity unit with mirror. En suite rooms feature a shower, toilet and basin with mirror.

En Suite and Shared Bathrooms

If you’re in a standard or small room, toilet and shower facilities are as follows:

  • Cromwell, Hudson and Clark: three separate shower rooms and two separate toilets shared between nine residents
  • Coleridge, Kay-Shuttleworth and Tufnell: three shower cubicles and three toilet cubicles shared between six residents
  • Dix: three bathrooms with a toilet and shower cubicle in each, shared between six residents
  • Houses: each house has a bathroom with shower cubical, wash hand basin and toilet, there is an additional toilet upstairs
