Contracts are fixed for the academic year 16 September 2017 to 9 July 2018 (42 weeks), including the Christmas and Easter vacation. Shorter term contracts may be negotiated should the University send you on placement further than 30 miles or 30 minutes commuting time of the campus or you are on a study abroad programme.
Standard rooms in halls are priced at £95 per week, while en suite accommodation costs £110 per week. Standard rooms in houses are priced at £90 per week, while some smaller rooms are available at £85 per week. Within houses 22 and 23 there are purpose-built en suite wet rooms for students with impaired mobility. These are priced at £110 per week.
Rates include heating, lighting, wifi access, computer support and personal contents insurance. When we send you an offer of accommodation, we’ll break down an annual payment plan with your annual residence fees and an £820 Dining-In-Scheme card charge if applicable. When you move in, your room will be kitted out with a single bed, mattress, mattress cover, bedside cabinet, wardrobe, desk, desk chair, noticeboard, waste bin, carpet, blackout blind and central heating. Some bedrooms also feature a chest of drawers and/or an easy chair. All standard and small rooms are fitted with hand-washing basin and vanity unit with shaver light and mirror. En suite rooms feature a shower, toilet and basin with shaver light and mirror.
Each student at the University has access to a communal kitchen/diner or kitchen and lounge. Every kitchen is kitted out with a kettle, fridges, freezers (or a fridge/freezer), a microwave, a cooker and a toaster. You’ll also find an ironing board, but students are asked to supply their own iron. In Cromwell, Hudson and Clark halls, the kitchen/diner is shared between nine residents. In Coleridge, Kay-Shuttleworth and Tufnell halls (ground floor), each is shared between six residents. In Kay-Shuttleworth and Tufnell (first and second floors) the kitchen/diner is shared between five residents and in Dix, each is shared between six residents. Houses are shared between four or five residents. When it comes to buying your supplies, students on a 42 weeks contract must participate in the Dining-In-Scheme and if you are a on a shorter term contract the Dining-In-Scheme is optional.
