Sports massage is a form of therapeutic massage that is specifically tailored to individuals who engage in regular physical activity or sports. It focuses on addressing the unique needs of athletes and active individuals to enhance their performance, prevent injuries, and aid in the recovery process.

Sports massage can provide several benefits to athletes and active individuals, including:

  • Enhanced Performance: Improved flexibility, range of motion, and muscle function can contribute to better athletic performance.
  • Injury Prevention: Regular sports massages can help identify and address potential issues before they become major injuries.
  • Faster Recovery: Sports massage can aid in the recovery process by reducing muscle soreness and promoting healing.
  • Relaxation and Stress Relief: While sports massage is often associated with intense techniques, it can also promote relaxation and reduce stress.

Testimonials

A professional atmosphere full of welcoming staff and amazing sports therapists. I’m lucky enough to be treated by a lecturer fairly often but I do also get treated by her students, who are quick to get stuck in and help me recover after rugby events, being a GB athlete the treatment Marjon provides is vital for me to constantly perform at my very best and I always leave the clinic feeling well looked after and ready to train hard for my next Wheelchair Rugby Event.

The Plymouth City Patriots have enjoyed wonderful provision from Plymouth Marjon University. The new partnership deal meant that over the course of the 2022/23 season we were able to enjoy excellent support from various departments including the Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation Clinic, Sports Therapy Clinic and work within the Sport & Health Science Lab in Strength and Conditioning. We were also able to make good use of the support from Sport Psychology and Sport Nutrition, which we greatly appreciated for our developing programme. It was great to see students working alongside professionals within a dedicated environment enhancing the student experience in all these areas and more at Marjon University.
