Football Partnerships

We offer a unique Higher Education experience in partnership with Argyle Community Trust (ACT). Since 2013, we have worked together to create a Football Coaching and Development degree pathway that includes the chance to study the football industry.

As a talented footballer you will have the chance to study, train and play in an environment that’s as close as it gets to a professional club. Delivered by the Argyle Community Trust, the BUCS provision available at Plymouth Marjon University has an outstanding track record of developing players as well as preparing them for a career beyond their sport.

Our football graduates

Harry Powell - First Team Analyst at Plymouth Argyle Football Club

"University life helped me to understand the importance of planning and working to time constraints, being forward thinking and proactive, always looking for ways to improve, learn and planning ahead when under busy schedules.

What I love most about the work in which I do now is the level of detail I am able to go into when preparing for fixtures. I am able to go into massive amounts of detail to help aid the thought process and preparation for our first team coaching staff"

George Roberts - Head of Academy Operations at Plymouth Argyle Football Club

"Football brings some many positives to society and it’s extremely rewarding being able to contribute to the delivery and development of a professional football club academy which helps to provide fantastic experiences for young talented footballers.

University life helped prepare me for a career in the football industry by developing my knowledge but also my communication, time management and organisation skills which are now so important to the work I carry out."

Sam Sharpe - Football Development Officer for Exeter City Football Club Community Trust

"Studying at university has made me a more detailed, critical thinker who is comfortable delivering and presenting to groups of people. This has transferred into my work seamlessly as I have to regularly deal with different groups and provide knowledge and information.

The practical and theory sessions provided me with ideas and inspiration from vastly experienced coaches. I have always wanted to work within football so being able to do so is a real privilege."
