Sports Therapy and Rehab Clinic

CLINIC NOW OPEN & TREATMENTS FREE FOR OCTOBER

We are pleased to announce we are back open for business and taking FREE appointments for 5 October onwards - please read the following information for how our service will differ.

To ensure that we can continue to provide our services whilst minimising Covid associated risks, we have made a few changes to the way we operate, which reflect the continually evolving guidelines as stipulated by the government and our governing bodies.

All patients must book a FREE online triage in order to be offered a face to face appointment.

Online Triage

This is a videocall which provides us with an opportunity to safely screen our patients and determine suitability for a face to face appointment. We have had a lot of success with our remote conusltations over the last six months with a variety of injuries, however we appreciate that remote care is not suitable for everyone. During the traige we are able to learn more about you and your injury/condition so that if offered a face to face, we can ensure the session is as productive and safe as possible by outlining a treatment plan in advance.

Your recovery is important to us, and so should you wish to engage in the service, we can ensure your recovery period is as short as possible.

Face to face appointment

If you are offered a face to face appointment during your online triage, you will be offered an appointment in one weeks time, this means that we can maintain patient-therapist continuity. Each of our student therapists have one day a week each in which they are available for clinic appointments.

Sports Massage

We will be offering sports massage appointments, these are approximately 30 minutes, however we will need you to follow our online triage service for us to offer you a face to face appointment.

Remote Consultations

We will continue to offer our remote injury conusltations and follow-ups which includes a personalised home-based rehabilitation plan.

Questions?

We appreciate that online triage may be difficult for some of our patients, should you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesistate to get in touch. Email mshclinic@marjon.ac.uk or via phone 01752 636836.

What do we do?

Sports therapy and rehabilitation is an aspect of healthcare that specialises in musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.

Our clinic focuses on the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of our clients back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports-specific fitness, regardless of age and ability. We see a variety of cases, such as novice runners suffering with knee pain and non-sporting clients post-hip replacement, as well as experienced athletes.

How do we do it?

Our personalised rehabilitation plans and follow-up sessions with the same therapist provide the continuity our clients need to progress week on week. Our team is made up of therapists who are currently studying, or have graduated from accredited BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy and BSc (Hons) Rehabilitation in Sport and Exercise degree programmes. Students work under supervision by staff holding professional membership, insurance and a license to practice in the UK.

During an initial consultation a medical history and assessment of your current injury or condition will be taken. This will shape your treatment which may include any of our services.

Who is it for?

Our services include exercise-based rehabilitation, manual treatment (soft tissue massage and mobilisations), anti-gravity treadmill*, running gait analysis*, electrotherapy (ultrasound and laser) and kinesiology taping. *Please note when booking if required. Our clinic is open to members of the public and we welcome all ages and ability. We can help with a variety of conditions such as back pain, sciatica, frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, quadricep/ hamstring tears, runners knee and rotator cuff issues. You’ll pay £15 to see a student therapist and £30 to see a graduate therapist, due to their additional experience. Discounts apply for Marjon staff & students. Marjon staff may be eligible for free sessions via Marjon Balance.
