Plymouth Marjon University will play host to a real-life version of The Traitors this week, as contestants take part in an immersive game across the University's green campus while raising money for YMCA Plymouth.

Among those taking part is Marjon's Chaplain, Rev Michelle Parkman, who admits the social strategy game may test some of her natural instincts.

Inspired by the hit television series, The Plymouth Traitors challenges participants to work together while trying to uncover hidden traitors among the group.

For Michelle, the appeal was less about deception and more about building community and supporting a good cause.

"As Chaplain, I love meeting people and getting involved in activities that bring communities together. I love what the YMCA stand for and the alignment with our university purpose of giving people a chance.

“The event sounded like a lot of fun, it's supporting YMCA Plymouth, and it's a chance to experience something completely different. Although I have to admit, if I end up being a traitor, I might struggle with the lying!

Michelle serves as Chaplain at Marjon, supporting students, staff and the wider University community. Alongside pastoral support, the Chaplaincy helps create opportunities for reflection, connection and belonging for people of all faiths and none.

Kate Gannon, from YMCA Plymouth, added: "We are so grateful to Marjon for hosting this fantastic event on their campus. This is our second year running the Plymouth Traitors and we cannot wait to see how it unfolds. The excitement from all the contestants has been building over the last two weeks, with the BBC show running at the same time. We are so thankful to all the players for raising money for the Plymouth YMCA and a special thanks to Andy Robinson-Noades, Director of Cognition Creative Learning CIC, for creating some of the missions".

The immersive event will take place across Marjon's campus, making use of its outdoor spaces and facilities as players complete challenges, build alliances and attempt to discover who they can trust.

While Michelle's colleagues are already convinced she must be a Faithful, participants will have to wait and see whether she can survive the game.

YMCA Plymouth is committed to helping our community to thrive through a range of Education & Training, Health & Wellbeing, Family & Youth, Support & Advice services.

The Plymouth Traitors – The Ultimate Challenge, is a one-day immersive experience that blends teamwork, deception, and strategy in a thrilling live game.

Hosted at Plymouth Marjon University on 23rd October 2026, it will test contestants’ collaboration, communication, and intuition, all while helping raise vital funds for work supporting our local community.
