CIMSPA’s professional standards have been developed with the contribution of employers, education providers and sector leaders, to ensure all current and future practitioners they endorse possess the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to be deployed and retained in the sector. Marjon’s endorsement is proof that all these attributes are evident and taught well to Marjon students.

The ambition of CIMSPA and the Sport and Physical Activity Professional Development Board (S&PA PDB) is to create a recognised and respected profession everyone wants to be part of. The endorsement signifies Marjon’s commitment and individual contribution to achieve this ambition.

Associate Director of the School of Sport, Health & Wellbeing, Caroline Westwood, says "It is fantastic that a number of our sport-based degree programmes have been awarded CIMPSA endorsements. By mapping our programmes to these professional standards, we can be confident that our graduates will attain a number of employable skills to make them career-ready for when they leave".

The new CIMSPA endorsement will add to the array of connections sports students already have and help towards future employability. Marjon have partnerships with local professional sports teams, including Plymouth City Patriots in basketball and Plymouth Argyle in football. This allows students to work with professional athletes throughout their degree, and make great connections for future employment.

Senior Lecturer in Health and Exercise Physiology, Dr Joe Layden, says "The extent of the latest CIMSPA professional endorsements, across such a broad range of programmes, is a fabulous reflection of our continued commitment to preparing students for tomorrows workforce.  These endorsements confirm that, not only will students have a great experience at Marjon, but that their studies are contemporary and aligned to the latest professional employability standards".
