Marjon runners up in prestigious Business award

Released: 24.05.18

In April, Plymouth Marjon University were shortlisted for the ‘Education and Business Partnership’ award at the Devon Chamber of Commerce Awards. Senior Lecturer in Business and Enterprise Sarah Preedy, Associate Professor Emily Beaumont and Marjon Enterprise manager Sarah Stevenson were among those in attendance of the event which took place on May 18 in the beautiful Moorland Garden Hotel on the edge of Dartmoor.

Despite being narrowly beaten by City College Plymouth, Plymouth Marjon University were runners up alongside Building Plymouth in a great evening that celebrated the fantastic work with local businesses. Guests were treated to a fascinating speech by Falklands' veteran, author, charity worker and successful businessman, Simon Weston CBE. Simon, who has been voted as the Nation’s Favourite Hero, provided an entertaining and thought provoking reflection of his life, work and business.

Associate Professor Emily Beaumont told us, “It was an honour to be shortlisted for Education and Business at the Devon Chamber Awards. Despite being runners up, it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our work with the local business community and the evening provided plenty of opportunities to promote the new Marjon Business School and the various ways the local business community can engage with it.”
