The entrance to Marjon University

Plymouth Marjon University has once again been rated amongst the top universities in the country in the National Student Survey.

Across 12 questions and broad subject areas, Marjon was rated in the top 5 institutions in England for the second year running. The subject areas include Teaching on my Course; Academic Support; Learning Community and Student Voice.

The National Student Survey, which was completed this year by 325,000 final year students across the UK, is the major national measure of student satisfaction. The University scored above average on 26 out of 27 questions.

Professor Rob Warner, Vice-Chancellor of Plymouth Marjon University said: “We are so proud of these results. These students were in their first year when the pandemic hit, and all universities had to close their campuses. With that backdrop, our staff have worked incredibly hard to ensure our students could return safely as soon as possible, and have an fulfilling and enjoyable experience. These results really demonstrate that our students have continued to feel motivated, connected and proud to be part of Marjon.”

Four courses achieved 100% student satisfaction, including a four-year integrated Master’s course in Osteopathic Medicine which celebrated its first graduates last year. Continuing to work closely with the NHS to develop healthcare education programmes, Marjon will launch a four-year Physiotherapy programme this September, and Nursing programmes in 2023, both managed within the same Health and Wellbeing team at Marjon. Other courses scoring 100% were Outdoor Adventure Education and two teacher training programmes: Physical Education in Secondary Education; and Primary Education (Early Years).

A further four courses scored over 90%; Journalism, which is taught in part on the BBC campus in Plymouth; Physical Education; Special Educational Needs and Disability Studies; and Sport Coaching and Physical Education.

The high scores across student and teaching related metrics are consistently reflected in other league table results. Marjon is currently ranked first in England for Student Satisfaction by the Complete University Guide, and first in England for Teaching Quality by the Good University Guide. It was shortlisted in the Top 10 in England in the WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2022, based on online reviews, for University of the Year, Student Support, Student Life and Lecturers and Teaching Quality.

Those wishing to join the Marjon learning community in 2022 for either undergraduate or postgraduate study may still apply. Courses remaining open are on the Marjon website.
