Transformative Youth Work International Conference

Plymouth Marjon University hosted the first ever international conference focussing on the impact of youth work. The conference, supported by Erasmus+, brought together a range of experts from across Europe and the wider world to showcase the latest research on the impact of youth work with the aim of influencing government policy and improving standards in the sector. The conference also showcased the publication of the Erasmus-funded 2 year comparative study of the impact of youth work in UK, Finland, Estonia, Italy and France.

The conference was attended by youth workers, youth work academics & trainers as well as policy makers. 190 experts travelled from 35 different countries to discuss the impact of youth work and engage in debates concerning the processes that  bring this impact about. Keynote speakers at the event included Professor of Criminology at the University of Tasmania Rob White, and Dimitris Ballas, who is Professor of Economic Geography at the University of Groningen.
