Marjon Zero - Zero Carbon by 2030

Professor Debby Cotton

My role is to provide strategic leadership in academic development and sustainability across the university. I am responsible for PhD students in education and I lead the Sustainability, Creativity and Innovation Research and Knowledge Exchange group (SCION). I contribute to external assessment of the institution including the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF). I was the Principal Investigator on the Student-led Knowledge Exchange (SLKE) Project, funded by Research England and the Office for Students.

Oscar Lindsey-Turner

Oscar is a third-year outdoor education student and the newly appointed Sustainability Ambassador. He is responsible for engaging students in sustainability activities and initiatives. He also runs an energy-saving campaign on campus to help students save power and move towards sustainable living. He is a keen social and environmental justice advocate, and his dissertation focuses on the role of city farms for children and young people’s sense of belonging.

Sustainability Governance

Professor Debby Cotton reports directly to Professor Michelle Jones, a senior management team member. A distributed leadership model utilises a team of committed sustainability champions that promote and advocate for sustainable initiatives across the university.
