Marjon nominated for two Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2020

Released: 29.06.20

Plymouth Marjon University has been nominated in two categories of the Whatuni.com Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) 2020.

Marjon are up for the awards of best ‘Courses & Lecturers’ and ‘University Facilities’. The event is being hosted by television presenter Claudia Winkelman.

The awards ceremony will take place from 9am to 5pm on a live stream from the Whatuni Twitter account on Wednesday, July 8, 2020.

Marjon’s nominations reflect the small class sizes which enable lecturers to know their students and help them to succeed. Small class sizes also give students the opportunity to get the full benefit from using the latest facilities on campus.

The WUSCAs are based on feedback from student’s own experiences at university.

Whatuni.com have collected 41,000 student reviews for the 7th year of the awards. The results were tallied during the 2019/20 academic year from over 150 institutions.

Last year Marjon ranked 5th in the UK for ‘Courses & Lecturers’ and rose up the rankings in every category they were eligible for.

Pro-vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Ian Luke, was delighted with the nominations. He said: “The Whatuni nominations reflect our student-focus and our commitment to high quality teaching. It is wonderful to see that our students are thriving.

“We pride ourselves on our small class sizes and personal focus; these are integral to the student experience and enable us to create authentic experiences that reflect and support students’ future careers.

“Marjon’s campus is the heart of the university. We are continually striving to create eco-friendly, modern and student-centred facilities for our students to live and learn in.

“We work with students, co-create their experience, and aim to build on their successes. It is humbling to receive such fabulous feedback on the quality of our teaching, our courses and our facilities from them. We are a strong community and I am very appreciative of our students’ enthusiasm for Marjon.”

The nominations come alongside Marjon’s most recent achievement, where they ranked 1st in England for student satisfaction in the Complete University Guide 2021.
