Prospective students visiting Plymouth Marjon University's Open Day can expect a warm welcome, the opportunity to explore campus facilities, meet academic staff and current students, and gain valuable insights into university life.
The day begins with complimentary tea and coffee in The Hub, giving visitors the chance to settle in, soak up the atmosphere and plan their day before the programme gets underway.
Throughout the day, a range of food and refreshments will be available across campus from The Hub, Grandstand and Marjon Stores.
One of the first events of the day is the Welcome Talk, where visitors can hear directly from the Vice-Chancellor about what makes Marjon a distinctive place to study, live and grow. The session offers an introduction to the University's values, community and ambitions for students.
Visitors can also attend a variety of Student Life Talks designed to answer common questions about higher education. Topics include student finance, UCAS applications and personal statements, accommodation, apprenticeships, sport at Marjon and guidance for parents and supporters.
A dedicated Student Life Zone will be open throughout the day, bringing together teams from across the University who support students from application through to graduation. Visitors can speak with representatives from accommodation, admissions, student wellbeing and support, disability and inclusion services, the Student Union, clubs and societies, library and study skills, and the Student Ambassadors Scheme.
Every undergraduate course will be represented throughout the day, with academic staff available at course fair stands and subject-specific talks taking place across campus. Many courses also offer interactive activities or open classroom experiences, allowing prospective students to get a feel for what studying their chosen subject could be like.
Visitors are encouraged to explore the campus and facilities at their own pace, with a range of guided tours available throughout the day led by current Marjon Student Ambassadors.
Campus tours provide an overview of the University's teaching, social and study spaces, while specialist tours offer a closer look at some of Marjon’s facilities. Visitors can explore the Health and Wellbeing Hub, home to programmes including Nursing, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy, take a guided tour of the library, or visit the University's CASES-accredited Sports Laboratory facilities to see the advanced equipment used by students studying sport, coaching and physical education.
Accommodation will also be open for visitors to explore, including halls of residence and a student house within the village, helping prospective students gain a better understanding of what living at Marjon could be like.
Phil Mansell, Future Students Manager at Plymouth Marjon University, said:
"An Open Day is a fantastic way to find out if a university is the right fit for you. At a Marjon Open Day, you can get all the information you need by speaking to our students, support teams and academics, and really get to explore our campus and facilities.
"There's lots of information about universities online and it can sometimes feel overwhelming, so there's no better way of finding out about a university than visiting it in person and experiencing it for yourself. If you visit on Saturday, you'll hopefully get a sense of the supportive learning community that we have here at Marjon."
Plymouth Marjon University's Open Days are designed to help prospective students make informed decisions about their future, offering the chance to explore the campus, meet the people behind the University and experience life at Marjon first-hand.
The next Open Day takes place this Saturday. Visitors are encouraged to review their Open Day programme in advance to make the most of the talks, tours and activities available throughout the day.
