Jane Hill

Role Summary

Jane joined Marjon as a Lecturer in 2020, bringing with her years of experience as a journalist and former radio programmer in both BBC and commercial radio.

She began her career as a local radio reporter and newsreader in Hampshire, where she also produced a weekly sports show. After a stint as News Editor of Invicta Radio in Kent, Jane moved into radio station management and was the Programme Director of the highly respected Lincs FM Group. While at Lincs FM, she also played a significant role in the radio industry generally as a member of IRN’s editorial committee and the Commercial Radio Association’s Public Affairs committee. Later, Jane moved to the BBC as Managing Editor of BBC Radio Leicester before joining the BBC Academy as a lead trainer working across the whole of BBC TV and Radio News.

Jane has previously lectured in Multimedia Journalism at Wolverhampton University and Radio Production at Lincoln University. She has also taught on the fast-track Postgraduate Journalism diploma at Highbury College in Portsmouth.

Other Interests

Jane is also a novelist who has written three psychological thrillers, all published by Random House. She is also a stand-up comedian and has written and performed four one-woman Edinburgh Fringe shows.
