Teaching

Associate lecturer on BSc and MSc Psychology programmes on research methods, cognition & development, neuropsychology, and contemporary & historical issues in psychology modules. I have background in teaching with at least some experience in nearly every phase of education, including primary, secondary, further and higher education up to masters level. This background contextualises my understanding of the psychology of education across the developmental trajectory in education.

Research

My research interests broadly include:

  • Collaborative learning approaches
  • Educational dialogue
  • Critical thinking
  • Metacognition
  • Socially shared regulation of learning

Specifically, I have studied the intersections between these interests. For example, looking at patterns in classroom peer and teacher student dialogue framed within pedagogic models, and the role of metacognitive self-control in collaborative critical thinking tasks. The common point of focus is exploring how our communication integrates with cognition at a social and individual level.

Roles on external bodies

Former Southwest Branch of the British Psychological Society Committee Member.
